Elopements, The Big Comeback!

Eloping back in the day was considered something taboo, the old hush- hush way to get married while pregnant or before leaving for the army. But as of recent years, the good ole' elopement is making a come back! Why you ask?! Here are a few reasons, as a photographer and a romantic that I think elopements are coming back!

THEY KEEP THINGS SIMPLE:

Most brides and grooms admit to me that a lot of fights leading up to the wedding day are over silly, petty details, such as who gets to sit next to who on the "singles" table, what gift favours should be given, what colour should the groomsmen's ties be?! Seriously, this takes away from the whole point of the wedding, (see above).

LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION:

In Trinidad, there are SO many beautiful places photographers dream of but rarely get the chance to shoot a wedding at because of the logistics of a big wedding day. By choosing to elope, you can literally go ANYWHERE you want!

MOOLA, DINERO, BUCKS, PAPER, MONEY!!!!:

Weddings cost A LOTTTTTTT of money nowadays, why not save that money and put it towards something that will help your future, a downpayment on a house, a savings fund, donating to your favourite charity?

and last but certainly the most important......

THE ROMANCE:

Picture it, you, your husband, walking towards each other... no big bright lights, no huge crowd to haze your focus, just you and a direct view of the person you're going to spend the rest of your life with. What could be more romantic than this?!

Sooooo, come on guys! Let's give elopements a thought!
