Originally when Boris had contacted me via email and said he and his fiancé Katharina were going to be eloping in Tobago with JUST THE TWO OF THEM, you could imagine my excitement!! The more weddings that I capture, I realize a lot of the day gets lost, caught up in moments that are inconsequential to what the whole marriage ceremony is about. Not putting big weddings down at alllll, but there's definitely something extremely romantic and intimate about an elopement.
Accompanied by my lovely taxi driver, Baptiste we drove the windy roads to Castara Retreats on a sunny Saturday. I arrived a little early to meet and greet the bride and groom (since we had only been chatting via email), Katharina was getting her hair done, totally relaxed while Boris popped champagne and headed off to the restaurant to read the papers and catch up on the latest global issues.
After the two got ready, they had their "first look" next to their villa, this alwayssss gives me nerves, how will he think she looks, if I'm nervous, how does she feel?! All in the excitement of my work. We walked down to the beach to start their ceremony, waited on the pastor and their two witnesses, two of the hotel's staff. Their ceremony was short and sweet, leaving us with a full afternoon for photos on the beautiful and empty Castara Beach. Ending the amazing day with a few beers, kissing under a rainbow and going for a quick dip in their wedding clothes.
